We are a mother and daughter team

Hello, I'm Jennifer, a licensed marriage and family therapist by day and a passionate knitter by night, with nearly three decades of experience in mental health. Throughout the challenging times of the pandemic, knitting became not just a hobby but a sanctuary for me, transforming into a mindful practice that rejuvenated my spirit. My daughter Lily has been on this journey by my side and has also found knitting to be more than just a hobby. Lily’s creativity has blossomed as she has become an integral part of Warmth and Wellness Knits.

As someone who's spent years supporting the heroes of a healthcare system and a navigating a family during the pandemic, I reached a point of personal burnout. Turning to knitting, I discovered a creative and therapeutic outlet that helped me reconnect with myself, embracing the tactile joy of yarn and the rhythm of stitches. Needing more positivity in my daily life, I began making wishes for love, happiness, and health with each stitch. In this journey, knitting has evolved into more than just self-care; it's a way to spread warmth and well-being, offering cozy, handcrafted gifts that bring smiles and comfort. Join us in this cozy corner of creativity and wellness, where each stitch is a reminder of the beauty in taking a moment for ourselves and spreading kindness in the world!

Mindfulness and Presence

Knitting encourages a state of mindfulness, focusing on the present moment through the rhythmic movements of the needles and yarn. This process mirrors therapeutic practices that emphasize staying present, helping to reduce anxiety and stress.

Social Connection

Knitting can be a communal activity, fostering connections with others through knitting groups or online communities. Therapy similarly emphasizes the importance of social support and connection for mental well-being. Knitting is a way I can meet new people and learn their stories-each story is included in each stitch.

Creative Expression

Both knitting and therapy offer avenues for creative expression. Knitting allows for the physical manifestation of one's internal state through color, texture, and pattern, while therapy provides a space to explore and express emotions verbally.

Sense of Accomplishment

Completing a knitting project provides a tangible sense of achievement and boosts self-esteem. Therapy also encourages setting personal goals and celebrating milestones, enhancing feelings of accomplishment.

Stress Reduction

The repetitive action of knitting has been shown to lower heart rate and blood pressure, promoting relaxation. Similarly, therapy offers strategies to manage stress, understand its sources, and develop coping mechanisms. We all want to stress less, and thrive in our lives more!

Therapeutic Metaphors:

Knitting offers rich metaphors for life and personal growth, such as untangling yarn mirroring the process of working through problems, or fixing mistakes in a pattern reflecting the ability to correct course in life. These metaphors can be powerful tools in therapy, offering insights and perspectives on personal challenges.

Wellness Insight

Welcome to a space where we embrace the power of connection and gratitude.

Take a moment to reflect on someone, whether they walk beside you in the present or linger in cherished memories, who left an indelible mark on your life. Now, write them a letter delving into the specifics of how they positively impacted your life. What qualities set them apart? How did they uplift your spirit? By revisiting these memories, you'll re-experience the positive memories and the warmth of the emotional connection.

Now, here's where the magic truly unfolds: take a bold step forward. Reach out and share your letter with them directly, or if circumstances prevent, consider extending your sentiments to a loved one close to them. Witnessing their response to your love and gratitude adds depth to your experience. In this act of reciprocity, you not only enrich your own journey but also bring joy to others.
